Resolve to read the entire Bible beginning NOW

The advantages of knowing Holy Scripture (I believe it has become a necessity) are several: Jesus says His words are Spirit and life and quoting Moses, He reminds His followers that we can't live by bread alone but by every word of God. St Paul tells us that faith comes from hearing (or reading) the Word of God. St James tells us the Word of God has the power to save our souls. Again, St Paul tells us that the Word of God is living and active and that it separates what is soulish (merely human) from what is truly spiritual. We all need this kind of guide for our walk with God, especially with the proliferation of knowledge, much if not most of it false or tainted, that bombards us in this modern era through the media. So many are confused or deceived.

Before we know it the New Year will be upon us. I recommend you do as I did. I determined to read the Bible from cover to cover in a year and I did it in that way. However, most redcommend reading selections from both the Old and the New Testaments - perhaps also a Psalm or chapter of Proverbs - each day of the journey through the Bible - pretty much the way the readings are arranged at Mass.

Every Catechist and Youth Minister should endeavor to equip his/herself with this power of God's Word as personal training for your ministry. Let's GO!!!
